Active Witnessing is a lot like a flash mob. One person or a group starts and decides to do something to take action. The action becomes infectious and soon, people from all around are joining in and participating. We also don’t know when active witnessing will take place. We see acts of discrimination and prejudice every day, whether it be an overheard remark, a couple of cautious steps away from someone, a stare or a glare, or an offhand comment or wall post.  They’re almost part of everyday public life and almost fade into the background. What if something happened to break this normalcy? What if every time you witness an act of discrimination, someone does something about it? Or even if YOU do something about it? It would be as if you were walking down the street and a group of people just start dancing in front of you.
